To make Europeans more sensitive to the issues of development and to inform them about the ins and outs of the Millennium Development Goals, the EU is supporting and financing a number of media projects and associations working towards the same goals. By putting together their know-how, RFI (Radio France International), FRANCE 24 (French news channel) and the GoodPlanet foundation (headed by Yann Arthus-Bertrand) were thus selected as the recipients of such funding.

In order to try to best represent the diversity of the countries across five continents, we set out to film in 16 countries selected together with the RFI radio broadcasts: Guatemala, Ecuador, Brazil, Senegal, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Botswana, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Lebanon, Georgia, India, Bangladesh, Laos, Cambodia, China.

For their part, RFI and France 24 have covered about twenty countries mainly selected together with 7 billion Others. These two media channels bring to "Development metters" a more journalistic and analytical angle in the following programs: Objectif Espoir on FRANCE 24, and 7 milliards de voisins, Priorité santé and C’est pas du vent on RFI.
