1. CHARTER OF PEOPLE WHO POST TESTIMONY

HOW TO POST YOUR TESTIMONY

To input your testimony online you must first create an account.

1. Creating an account

Enter all the relevant information about yourself in the mandatory fields. This information is important. It will remain confidential. You must then accept the website’s legal notices. You can close your account at any time.
Your first name and country of residence are the only two items of information visible to Internet surfers. Your first name and country will appear close to your testimony. Surfers can search the website by “country” and thereby find your testimony.

Information provided to the GoodPlanet Foundation by an Internet surfer is only used for the “6 billion Others” artistic project and shall not be made available by the Association to any third party.
In accordance with the Law on Information and Civil Liberties, you have the right to access and to correct the information concerning yourself by going to “My space” / “My data”. You can make changes to your personal information at any time. If you encounter difficulties, you can contact us at the following address: GoodPlanet Foundation, Management Department for Testimonies of the 7 billion Others website, 1, Carrefour de Longchamp, Domaine de Longchamp, 75116 Paris, France.

2. Posting your testimony

Once you have set up your account, you will be asked 24 questions from the project. You can reply to all or part of the questions using various media:
- a web-cam
- a camera
- by text
Whichever medium is used, you can only enter one answer per question.
For video media (web-cam and camera), each answer may not exceed 2 minutes.
For text, each response may not exceed 2,000 characters.
You should identify your response by giving it a theme and keywords so that any Internet surfer can locate your testimony on the website using the search feature.

We invite you to post a photograph of yourself irrespective of the medium used to upload your response online. Your face will then appear in the mosaic of the participative section and will allow access to your testimony with just a single click.
You will then have access to a preview of your response. You can either modify it, upload it online or delete it.
If you use video you can also re-transcribe and/or translate your response. You can be guided by our subtitling tool.

Once your response is online, you can delete it and/or reenter it at any time.

3. Deleting your testimony

You can delete your testimony at any time from the “6 billion Others” website.

To do so, click on the “My Space” tab and then on the “My Testimonies” tab and then click on the trash can for the response you wish to delete.

4. Editorial line
• To maintain the editorial line of the 7 billion Others project, we ask you to answer each question honestly.
• Camera and web-cam users: Film your testimony in a quiet location and look directly at the camera. You undertake to film yourself and no one else. You alone should appear on the screen and provide an answer to the question asked.

B. BY PUTTING YOUR TESTIMONY ONLINE YOU ACCEPT THAT:

- Your photo will be included in the mosaic of the participatory part of the project, and that a click on your photo will provide any surfer access to your testimony.

- Your testimony will be made up of one or several responses.

- Your first name and the country where you live will be made known to surfers.

- Your testimony might be translated or subtitled by third parties into any language, especially by other Internet surfers.

If you believe that a translation of your testimony is incorrect or inappropriate, you can let us know by clicking on the “translation error” link on the page of your testimony.
If you are a translator yourself, you can change any translation of your own testimony.

- You accept that third parties can give a score for the quality and relevance of your testimony.

The score given to your testimony remains invisible to all surfers. This score is only used for moving the content higher up in the search engine.

- You accept that your testimony can be saved in the Favorites folder of another account holder.

It is stipulated that the testimonies saved as Favorites of an account holder are unknown to other Internet surfers.

- You also accept that another account holder can send a third party a link to your testimony on the 7 billion Others website.

- You agree that other account holders may send you messages to your 7 billion Others messaging service if you have not checked the refusal box on the “Create an Account” screen.

This checkmark can be selected during registration or at any later time.

- You accept that your testimony may appear in the newsletter of the 7 billion Others project.

- You accept that Internet surfers will see your testimony and will look it up in the database using the search engine that has the following headings: 24 questions with an average of 20 themes per question, including the following: witness’s country, witness’s gender, language of the testimony, subtitles available for the testimony.

The search engine will also work with the keywords you have chosen.

- You expressly and irrevocably accept that your testimony can be deleted from the 7 billion Others website by one or several of the community’s moderators or by the GoodPlanet foundation.

2. THE TRANSLATORS’ CHARTER

As a translator you can translate the “6 billion Others” testimonies, the testimonies of Internet surfers and the website’s interface.

A. HOW TO PERFORM A TRANSLATION?
To become a translator you must first of all set up an account.

1. Creating an account

Enter all the information about yourself in the mandatory fields. This information is important, especially the languages that you are fluent in. This information will remain confidential. You must then accept the website’s legal notices. You can terminate your account at any time.
When you reach the translation interface, you must select the translation languages and the translation/s you wish to appear in the translation interface to help you work.
Information provided to the GoodPlanet Association by an Internet surfer is only used for the 7 billion Others artistic project and shall not be made available to any third party by the Association.
In accordance with the Law on Information and Civil Liberties, you have the right of access and correction for the information about you by going to “My space” / “My data”. You can make changes to your personal information at any time. If you encounter difficulties, you can contact us at the following address: GoodPlanet Association, Management Department for Testimonies of the 7 billion Others Website, 1, Carrefour de Longchamp, Domaine de Longchamp, 75116 Paris, France.

2. Make an initial translation of online content.

Once sent, your first translation is not put online straight away. It is submitted for validation by the translators’ community.
A member of the community will review it, might make some changes, validate it or refuse it.

If your translation has been validated it will be put online. The member of the community who has validated it will then decide on whether or not you can enter the community. An email will then be sent to you to let you know of your admission or the rejection of your entry to the community. Any rejection will be explained in the email: poor translation (incorrect meaning, serious errors, etc.), distortion of the topic, illegal subject matter, etc.
If your first translation has been rejected despite your good faith and effort, do not get discouraged. A second attempt might allow you to gain access into the community of translators.

3. You are a member of the community of translators

You can translate as well as validate the translations of surfers who are not members of the community, and to allow such surfers into the community. You can translate 7 billion Others content, participatory content and the website’s interface. You can check and validate translations provided by surfers.

a. Your translations

Your translations are no longer sent to the community for validation.
You have access to your translation history. You are thus informed about any changes made to your translations by another member of the community.
Any of your translations can be changed by members of the community.

b. Validation of translations by surfers

You will receive all the initial translations of a surfer in the languages you entered when setting up your account.
You can correct them – if necessary – and validate them so they can go online. You can then decide to allow the surfer into the community of translators.
You can delete a translation you deem to be “bad”, namely which has incorrect meaning or serious errors, or in which the topics have been distorted or cause harm to human dignity.
The aim is to create a very large, dynamic community, so do not be too severe. Only reject people who are likely to cause harm to the project. Do not forget that any given translation can be corrected and tinkered with forever.

c. Translation alerts
Anyone, whether an account holder or not, can issue an alert about translation content.
As a member of the translators’ community, you have access via your account to all the translation alerts, which are accompanied by the reasons for the alert.
The translation may be taken offline or not, depending upon the severity of the alert. There are three types of alert:
- Spelling and grammar errors
- Translation errors
- Distortion of the subject.
If a translation alert says that the subject has been distorted, it is immediately taken offline and is submitted to the community of translators. It is up to you to check and correct it, put it back online or delete it.

d. Translation of the website interface
You can translate all or part of the website interface into the language of your choice. You can use two reference languages.

4. Editorial Guidelines

Translators, you undertake to respect a person’s ideas and not to distort them. We ask you to encourage a dynamic interaction within the community and to remain flexible in validating new translations you receive from surfers.
We are not looking for a community of professional translators.
If you put online a translation with inappropriate, defamatory, harmful, racist, discriminatory, pornographic or commercial topics, you will be expelled from the community of translators and your account will be deleted. Legal action might be taken against you.

2. Moral rights

You expressly accept that your translation can be modified in whole or in part, or removed from the “6 billion Others” website in accordance with the translators’ charter drawn up by the GoodPlanet foundation.

3. MODERATORS’ CHARTER

What is a moderator?

The “6 billion Others” website is a project with universal scope. We want to create the largest possible community of surfers, so that people from the four corners of the earth will provide testimony, share their experiences, thoughts, beliefs, and that these testimonies will be translated into a large number of languages.
We do not want this site - where you can speak freely - to become a place for illegal expressions, which is why we are counting on a community of moderators who will monitor the text and video content that is put online. This website must remain a place where you can speak freely, while never causing any harm to anyone else.

Every surfer, whether or not an account holder, may issue an alert regarding any content in the participatory section, that he or she deems inappropriate.
By becoming a moderator you will have access to content on which alerts have been issued: it is for you to decide if the content deserves to be permanently deleted from the site, or deserves to be put back online.
Content that has no place here would be text or a video clip that does not comply with the editorial charter (a video that shows someone other than yourself, does not answer any questions posted on the website, etc.), a text or video containing defamatory, harmful, off-subject, racist or discriminatory ideas, that is harmful to human dignity, is commercial or pornographic in nature, etc.

To become a moderator you must first of all set up an account.

1. Creating an account

Enter all the information about yourself in the mandatory fields. This information is important. It will remain confidential. You must then accept the website’s legal notices. You can terminate your account at any time.

Information provided to the GoodPlanet foundation by an Internet surfer is only used for the 7 billion Others artistic project and shall not be made available to any third party by the Association.

2. Moderating

All content on alert is accessible via your account. Surfers, whether or not account holders, can put an alert on content that they deem to be defamatory, harmful, off-subject, racist, discriminatory, or is commercial or pornographic in nature, etc.
It is up to you to monitor and delete such content. You may also decide to put such content back online if you believe the alert was excessive. The deletion of content must be justified. Do not forget that this is a website that encourages free speech as long as this does not cause harm to others. Please remain objective.

3. Editorial Guidelines

Moderators must stay impartial, respect others, their identities, opinions and beliefs.
Use maximum objectivity and total impartiality when acting as a moderator. Do not take any decision based on personal considerations that are foreign to the spirit of the 7 billion Others project.

Only delete videos or texts if what is said is off-topic or likely to cause embarrassment or insult to someone.

The GoodPlanet Association may remove your account if it believes that you are fulfilling your role in an abusive or excessive manner, or if it feels that your work as moderator is not in line with the spirit of the project. You undertake to comply with the decision of the GoodPlanet Association, and you will not register again as a moderator and will not take any action against the foundation.
